CHRISTCHURCH CLUBS

CANTERBURY MASTERS

Canterbury Masters is not officially a club, but a voluntary organisation helping athletes all over NZ perform and do their best. Masters athletics are involved in all events including road running and cross country running and Track and Field. There are five-year age groups beginning at age 35 and ongoing to over 80’s competing and having fun. We recommend that Canterbury Masters athletes wishing to compete in events enter as community members.

AWATEA ATHLETICS

Awatea Athletics are the newest club in Christchurch, based in the Wigram/Halswell area. We are a community focused club, passionate about supporting overall athletic skill development, building confidence and helping each individual achieve their potential and at the same time, have FUN! Programs run from ages 5 and above.

CHRISTCHURCH AVON

While there is a competitive side to the club, runners of all abilities are welcomed and catered for with social memberships. Christchurch Avon members are a social bunch, enjoying club runs, dinners, and other activities, and we aim to have one or two club trips away each year.

CHRIST’S COLLEGE

Boys in athletics compete regularly in Saturday competitions. Year 9 boys who are already a member of an athletics club when they come to College may compete for that club over the summer while training with the Christ’s College club. Success in this competition can lead to provincial selection.

Description:
Established in 2020, and based in Christchurch, New Zealand, Don Greig Racing Stables caters for runners of all abilities. We focus on cross country, road and track running. Structured training sessions, in Hagley Park and on the Port Hills, in a friendly supportive environment will enable you to achieve your running goals. Club members participate in many events from 5k Parkruns, Canterbury inter-club competitions, through to National Championships including both competitive and social grades.

NEW BRIGHTON OLYMPIC

NBO caters for people from all age groups who want to find friends through running, jumping and throwing. Our members are both competitive and social. We operate all year round and host the Tai Tapu Running Festival 15k event. We have a Clubrooms and grass track plus field set-ups at Rawhiti Domain off Keyes Rd including a small gym in the Clubrooms.

SOUTH CANTERBURY AMATEUR ATHLETICS CLUB

Founded in 1871 The South Canterbury Amateur Athletics Club is the oldest athletics club in New Zealand. The Club will be celebrating its sesquicentennial over Labour weekend 2021. The Club has Saturday competitions during the summer months from the start of October to the end of March.
