Cross Country is back!
The Cross-Country and Road Committee have prepared a race schedule for a belated start to the 2020 winter season.
It has been a trying time for all New Zealanders as we deal with a new normal with various restrictions and limits on our lifestyle and the way we do things, however with the recent government announcement that the outdoor gathering limit numbers have increased to 100, the committee is ready to put on our first event.
A straight Shake Down Cross-Country Race on Saturday 13 June at Ascot Park (QE2) – though to comply with government rulings there will be changes to the way we operate.
The second event, Andrew Reese Cross Country Races, is set for 27 June, also at Ascot Park and will introduce children’s grades (U10 and U12).
The Kennett Cup will be 4 July and will be the full event as with previous years.
A programming subcommittee is working on what events will follow these first three events and what dates they will be on. We will advise as soon as a decision has been made.
Please note that as the government reviews the level status, things change. There is another announcement due on Monday 8 June. Some of what we have outlined here may no longer be necessary. The website is the best source of information. We aim to keep this as current as we can. All athletes, officials and registered spectators will receive the final information sheet on the Thursday prior to the event.
There are a number of changes to how the first three races will operate, from spreading the age groups out, creating zones for warm ups, the finish and spectators along with complying with Covid19 government guidelines.
So, if you haven’t already, you will need to get setup on iDMe so we can contact trace you at these events. Please go to iDme to get yourself setup prior to race day.
